I attended a consultation in August 2020 with Mr.Shankar to discuss hip replacement surgery as he had received my x ray. It was decided that an operation would be necessary to replace my right hip due to severe osteo arthiritis. Mr Shankar explained the procedure giving me all the positives and also possible complications that could arise from surgery so that I was fully aware. I was admitted to the Wellesley Hospital on Wednesday 14th October and my surgery was carried out that same evening. The physio team visited me the following afternoon and had me out of bed walking with a frame. The following day (Friday) they returned and had me walking on 2 walking sticks. I was X-Rayed again and visited by Mr.Shankar again and on Saturday I was discharged and sent home with my 2 walking sticks, medication and any other requirements i.e surgical stockings (to be worn for 6 weeks), raised toilet seat and extended grips so I could pick things up without bending to far. I followed exercises and walked everyday and had fortnightly Zoom calls with physio every 2 weeks to check on my progress. My final Zoom meeting was on Wednesday 25th November and I was told that I could remove stockings. I would be sent restrictor bands to continue to exercise and was also told I could resume driving. The following day I drove to Wellesley Hospital for appointment with Mr.Shankar who examined me, showed me X-Ray of new hip and was pleased with my progress. I will continue my exercises and have to return in 4 months for final check up. I am now free of pain and look forward to resuming some activities once I have strengthened my leg. I am extremely happy with the service I have received and the amazing result.

I found Mr Shankar to have a very nice manner and full understanding of the problems that I was encountering. He has undertaken treatment for me (Total Knee Replacement Left Leg, Removal of Bakers Cyst from behind Left Knee, and Straightening of my Left leg) that I feel will hopefully resolve the Issues that I had encountered. So far I am extremely happy with the outcome of both the attention and treatment that I have received, and am more than confident that my condition will improve markedly to the good. I would add that I have total confidence in Mr Shankar, and would not hesitate to recommend his services.

My knee feels fantastic and I am truely grateful for all the care given by Dr Shankar. He is calm and caring which really helps with nerves before and after surgery. A true asset to the NHS. Thank you for everything you have done.

Initial meeting with the doctor was great as he made me feel comfortable and calm before the operation. I had great confidence in him as I knew that he knew what he was doing without any doubt.
